Tankhas
Tankhas are Buddhist paintings which depict a deity or sacred image. They are traditionally used as wall hangings in temples, as a center hanging behind a shrine, or to bring a particular benefit to a persons life.
These Buddhist murals really bring a room to life with their utmost quality. Each tankha is painted by hand using natural dyes and real gold, then framed in silk banners. A tankha painter has to be specially trained and qualified by the monastic body of Bhutan. The Rinpoche then selected the finest painter in terms of skill, experience, and good motivations. The same painter has been commissioned to repaint a full twenty-one 10 foot tall tankhas in a temple near Thimphu, Bhutan.
Tankhas can also impart a desired benefit into one's life. For example, if the astrological divination may say to hang a Green Tara tankha in the house to prevent or resolve illness, or a Zambala tankha in the business place to increase profitability.
We have many tankhas to choose from and come in three different sizes. We often have tankhas which display deities like Buddha, Chenrezig, and many more, so please ask what we have in stock and put a note in your order as to which deity you would like displayed in your tankha.
Other tankhas of comparable quality, at their source in Thimphu Bhutan, start at 30,000 IR and do not include the silk framings. Rest assured you are getting the absolute best quality at an unbeatable price!
