ABOUT OUR CENTER

The mission of The Drukpa Mila Center is to help spread the authentic teachings of the Drukpa Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in America, and benefit sentient beings everywhere. The Drukpa Kagyu is a subsect of the Kagyu tradition, one of the four main schools of Tibetan Buddhism. The Drukpa Mila Center's founder and resident teacher is Lama Karma Namgyel. The Drukpa Mila Center also has a second sangha in Salem, Oregon.

Lama Karma was born in Bhutan of a Nyingma/Drukpa Kagyu family. He joined a Drukpa Kagyu monastery in Bhutan at age 7 and stayed until he was 21. In 1987, he went to Nepal to study with Khenpo Rigdzin Dorje. He came to the United States in 1996 and how lives in Longmont, Colorado.

In addition to Lama Karma, the center has had several visits from Lama Karma's root teacher His Holiness Ngawang Tenzin Rinpoche, in which he has given students empowerments and teachings.
His Holiness has spent many years in retreat and has studied with some of the greatest masters of the 20th Century, including the 68th H.H. Je Khenpo Tenzin Dendrup, the 69th H.H. Je Khenpo Geshe Gedun Rinchen Rinpoche, H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche, H.H. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, H.H. Penlop Khen Rinpoche and Chatral Rinpoche.

Both His Holiness and Lama Karma Namgyel strive to continue to bring benefit and teachings to all wherever they may go.
